New Supply Chain Data Warehouse!

Dashboard Gear is announcing a soon to be released Supply Chain data warehouse.  We expect the Supply Chain data warehouse to be generally available by Fall, 2010.  Like our existing Financial and HR/Payroll toolkits, the new Supply Chain data warehouse will make reporting on your Lawson data easier.  Send us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Supply Chain Reporting Toolkit is a complete procurement reporting solution which integrates directly with the Lawson Business Intelligence (LBI) and Lawson Enterprise Supply Chain Management systems.

Many people spend days creating a single report on their Lawson Supply Chain System.  Our solution significantly reduces the time it takes to build reports, run queries, and analyze your supply chain data.  This toolkit creates a star schema data mart, an OLAP Cube, common reporting views, and a number of denormalized relational tables which are optimized for easy report creation from your Lawson Supply

Chain data.

The solution creates a data mart of your Lawson Supply Chain system with complete coverage of item costs and quantities as wellas the transaction, base, invoice, actual taxable, discount amounts and quantities.  The toolkit consists of a set of relational tables optimized for report creation along with a star schema design of the data which can be used for reporting and analysis as well as a Microsoft Analysis Services OLAP Cube.  It allows for reporting and analyzing of your Supply Chain data by the following dimensions:

Reporting and Analysis Dimensions:

  • Companies – You select the companies and Process Levels to include
  • Vendor – Your complete Vendor hierarchy including Vendor Groups, Vendor Classes, Vendors and Vendor Locations
  • Items – The complete Item hierarchy including Item Groups, Major Classes, Minor Classes, Items and Item Locations
  • Periods - All fiscal years and periods you have available and choose to include
  • Buyers – This includes Buyer Groups and Buyers
  • Activities – The complete Activity structure including Activity Groups, Activities and Account Categories

Included Measures:

  • Item Units of Measure
  • Item Costs – All
  • Item Quantities – All
  • Transaction and Base Amounts and Quantities
  • Invoice and Actual Amounts and Quantities
  • Taxable and Discount Amounts and Quantities
  • Distribution and Paid Amounts and Quantities

Because the data is output into industry standard formats, the data maybe output using a variety of tools, including but not limited to:

  • Lawson Business Intelligence (LBI)
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Reporting Services
  • Crystal Reports
  • Cognos
  • Microsoft Word and the other Office Components

 System Requirements

The system works with Lawson Procurement 8.x and 9.x systems.  The reporting solution requires a Microsoft SQL Server system with ODBC/OLEDB connectivity to the source Lawson tables.  The system will require the ability to create a database on the SQL Server environment and take full ownership of that database including the ability to create, drop, and alter tables on that database.

Optionally, if Microsoft Analysis Services Cubes are desired the requirements of the reporting solution must be met.  In addition, Microsoft Analysis Services and SQL Server Integration Services must be installed and a Local OLAP Administrator user must be available to create Analysis Databases and Cubes.
